In an effort to shorten lines at Georgia driver's license facilities, the Department of Motor Vehicle Safety (DMVS) is mailing out 18,000 to 25,000 applications per week to eligible residents approximately 60 days before their birthday for its statewide mail-in license renewal program.
Internet renewals have also begun for drivers with September birthdays.
Previously, the renewal process required that drivers must appear in person at a DMVS customer service location every four years to renew their licenses.
Visit www.dmvs.ga.gov for more information and eligibility requirements.
